GPS polling of P25 radios is becoming a more popular option on public safety radio systems. The need to locate public safety personnel allowing telecommunicators quickly and accurately to monitor personnel safety and to allow required resources to be directed to the correct locations efficiently. In this presentation we will discuss the different ways GPS location can be implemented on P25 radio systems, how different radio vendors implement GPS polling, the impact GPS polling can have on P25 radio system capacity, and what solutions are available to mitigate the impact on system capacity.
