Next-generation 911 (NG911) has been the subject of debate and development for much of the past two decades, but operational use of the technology—designed to provide 911 with the flexibility and multimedia capabilities of IP-based systems—is still rare. That could change in 2024, when all 450 public-safety answering points (PSAPs) in California are scheduled to transition to NG911 by the end of the year.
In this session, listen to NG911 deployment experts Budge Currier, California 911 Director, California Office of Emergency Services, and Christy Williams, 911 Director, NCT 911, describe the real-world challenges and opportunities associated with turning the NG911 vision into reality.
