Track: Emerging Technologies: Drones, AI and NTN
Format: Panel Session
Vault Recording: TBD

Public-safety drones are rapidly evolving from remotely piloted cameras into persistent sources of real-time operational intelligence. Drone-as-first-responder programs, automated launches, AI-assisted analysis and expanding BVLOS capabilities are changing not only aviation operations, but the communications architecture supporting emergency response.

This panel examines what happens when drones become another node on the public-safety network. Agency and industry practitioners will discuss the communications, connectivity and integration requirements behind scalable drone operations: reliable broadband between aircraft and command systems, resilient connectivity when terrestrial networks are unavailable, delivery of video and telemetry into real-time crime centers and command posts, and the emerging role of AI in turning large volumes of aerial data into actionable information.

The discussion will also address the challenge agencies increasingly face as DFR programs move beyond individual pilots: how to integrate drones into the larger public-safety technology ecosystem rather than creating another standalone platform. Attendees will hear practical lessons from public-safety drone programs and learn how agencies can prepare their communications architecture for increasingly autonomous aviation.

Takeaway

Understand the communications architecture required to support scalable DFR operations.

Identify connectivity and resiliency requirements for BVLOS and remote drone operations.

Learn how video, telemetry and AI-generated insights can feed existing command environments.

Avoid creating another technology silo as drone programs expand.
