Cloud-Native CAD: A Lifeline for 911 Agencies
The Regional Resiliency Initiative in Washington State is a major innovation that combines Next Generation 911 (NG911) with CAD-L, a custom-built, cloud-based CAD solution for ECC preparedness. This session will provide a case study on how Snohomish County 911 (SNO911) and Valley Communications Center (Valley Com 9-1-1), two of Washington's largest Emergency Communications Centers (ECCs), partnered to ensure uninterrupted emergency response during planned or unplanned downtime. You will learn how the cloud-hosted CAD-L solution operates independently of a primary CAD system and supports essential dispatch features.
The presentation will detail the challenges faced by ECCs, such as the inefficiency of manual backup processes like using note cards and magnet boards during an outage. We will demonstrate how CAD-L was designed to replace these methods, providing a robust backup system that is accessible via a web browser and requires minimal training. We will also explain how this partnership created a complete resiliency framework to assure emergency responses in both jurisdictions, a pioneering initiative that is believed to be the first of its kind in the United States.
Takeaway
1. A Blueprint for Resiliency: Understand how a public-private partnership between two ECCs, with a cloud-native CAD system, can ensure service continuity and 100% uptime, even when agencies don't share a border.
2. Cost-Effective Innovation: Discover how a serverless, cloud-hosted backup solution can dynamically scale to meet peak demands, keeping costs minimal when idle while providing robust, full functionality.
Creating Regional Networks: Learn the practical steps for establishing a regional resiliency initiative, including leveraging ESInet for call re-routing and implementing streamlined call-taking procedures across partner agencies.
