Brian TegtmeyerCoordinator, National 911 ProgramNHTSA

Brian Tegtmeyer, ENP (Emergency Number Professional), serves as the National 911 Program Coordinator at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). He has more than 28 years of experience in public safety communications on local, state, and national levels. Inspired by the evolving landscape of emergency communications technology, he is committed to establishing Next Generation 911 (NG911) systems nationwide to help 911 centers provide optimal services to their communities. Brian began his career as a dispatcher at an Illinois police department and quickly ascended through the ranks, serving in various leadership roles in 911 systems. Later, he managed a 911 center in Illinois that coordinated 44 agencies and served a population of over 850,000 citizens. A seasoned educator, Brian has spent over a decade teaching Public Safety Telecommunicator courses on a national scale. He has also delivered speeches including, the keynote address at the NENA Goes to Washington event in 2023 and led five sessions at NENA's Annual Conference the same year. He has also presented at the IAED Navigator Conference and has been a guest speaker on a variety of webinars and podcasts, including the State of 911 webinar series and NCSL's podcast, Our American States. Beyond education, Brian is an active member of multiple public safety organizations and has contributed to Telecommunicator Emergency Response Task Forces (TERT).
