Derek Nesselrode, Emergency Communications Coordinator, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)
Within the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) works with public safety and officials at all levels of government and across all disciplines to lead nationwide efforts to raise awareness and help guard against cyber threats and improve emergency communications capabilities to help keep our Nation secure and resilient against all threats and hazards. Derek Nesselrode works as the CISA Emergency Communications Coordinator serving the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama. In this role, he supports efforts to build and improve public safety communications and advocate for more capable, interoperable, and resilient emergency communications capabilities.
Mr. Nesselrode previously served twenty-two years with the Kentucky State Police as Commander of the Communications Branch, Statewide Interoperability Coordinator, FirstNet State Point of Contact and Chief Engineer. In these roles he provided guidance and leadership to develop and improve all aspects of emergency communications in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
