José De Zayas, E911 Communications Administrator, Broward County
José De Zayas is the Radio Systems E911 Communications Administrator for Broward County's Regional Emergency Services and Communications. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami. He has spent the last 15 years with Broward County, where he has primary responsibility over wireless systems serving approximately 15,000 radios. During his tenure he oversaw the implementation of FireNet, migration of the public safety communications system to P25 Phase II, and the Nextel 800 MHz rebanding reconfiguration. His experience includes managing the County's communications through critical incidents, including active shooter incidents at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas Highschool and Fort Lauderdale International Airport.
