Much has been presented on Project Management for communications systems with successful deployment of the system as the end goal. There is little presented on the other 80% to 90% of the system life. This session focuses on the concepts and strategies required to manage this "other project": the lifecycle of system. Discuss how to plan for the path from stable operation just post deployment, thought ongoing support, system upgrades and expansion, long term maintenance and the planning needed for eventual replacement.
From this session the participants will learn concepts and strategies to not simply manage this process, but to present their intended path to vendors and administrators, gaining the buy-in necessary to successfully manage the entire lifecycle of a system, and not just its initial deployment.
