P25 Case Studies: Real Systems, Real People, Real World
Veteran System Administrators and policy planners will offer a first-hand view of their experience with P25 technology. A description of their P25 Systems, architecture, and governance models will be shared with lessons learned to maximize interoperability, performance, and cost-effective communications for their first responders.
Hear these P25 Case Studies:
The State of Texas achieves state-wide interoperability through a "System of Systems," including a mixture of P25 trunking and conventional technologies spanning bands from VHF to 700/800 MHz. These distinct systems achieve broader regional and statewide interoperability using the Texas Interoperable Radio Infrastructure System (TIRIS) via ISSI links, allowing seamless communication between different networks during mutual aid operations
The State of Arizona Wireless Integrated Network System (AZ WINS) is Arizona's dedicated, statewide public safety network. Used extensively by the highway patrol, the Arizona DOT, and various other state and local mutual aid partners; it operates a vast network of multi-band frequencies and mountain-top repeater sites to maintain seamless communication across county lines. For interoperability with other P25 regional systems Arizona utilizes the Arizona Interagency Radio System (AIRS) alongside ISSI (Inter-Subsystem Interface) Gateways
In Missouri, St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve counties, have a new P25 System boosting emergency coverage from about 60% to at least 95%, improving safety for first responders and residents. The project upgraded aging analog VHF systems with new simulcast VHF systems capable of both analog and P25 digital operation, utilizing new P25 radio equipment, microwave connectivity, upgraded dispatch consoles and extensive tower-site improvements.
