All signs from Congress indicate that it intends to reauthorize the FirstNet Authority before the organization is scheduled to sunset in February next year. Much of the discussion in hearings to date has been focused on governance models and oversight roles, but what does public safety need in any future reauthorization legislation? In this session, our panel of speakers will examine this question, including the potential impact of reauthorization on competition/pricing, innovation development, timing for budget planning, and various levels of interoperability. Which aspects of the current arrangement would public safety like to see changed to enhance the service provided by the nationwide public-safety broadband network?
