Get a good look at an innovative technology, along with a formalized policy and team to deploy frequency interference. Sometimes LMR radio or microwave problems in a specific area could be from accidental or malicious frequency interference. Threat detection for this issue may require field staff to deploy to specific area. The situational awareness needed for field staff to pinpoint the source of interference is going to be important as multiple teams may be needed. Sources have included an authorized BDA that has gone bad, an unauthorized BDA from a 20-year-old defunct cellular network, and a building penetration issue. This is a team of end-users that are using various setups and learning more every day.

Takeaway

Affordable hardware for frequency finding
Policy needs to support the hunt and mitigation
Configuration differences for different deployment models
Considerations for forming a team
Training needs and cadence
