In 2017, the deadliest mass shooting on US soil occurred at a concert in Las Vegas. Hear from a first responder at the incident who witnessed challenges crews faced navigating to their assigned work locations, duplicating efforts, and obtaining transport unit eta's. First responders operate in challenging environments where seconds matter. A key to success is easy access to information with a decision support tool that aggregates all necessary information into a centralized intuitive, easy-to-comprehend experience. The team didn't operate differently because we didn't have any other options. Technology solutions existed to solve the gap of multi-agency interoperability, or a clear picture of the units on-scene, their assigned duties, and working locations – but nothing solved for all those in a single glass pane for easy viewing. In this situation, first responders can't afford to worry about gaps in processes or technologies that have limitations before they stop working. Public Safety technologies must work together, reliably. Responders need to be able to ingest accurate information quickly, orient to it, and act swiftly and confidently based on that intelligence.
Review the events of the day and learn:
• How accountability and productivity are linked
• To provide communication, data exchange, and collaborative operations it's essential to integrate multiple systems, devices, and software
• About enabling systems to communicate and share data despite their technical differences through integration that stretches between various systems.
