Jake Thompson, Radio Manager, Hennepin County Sheriff's Office
Jake has worked in Public Safety Communications since the early 2000s, beginning his career with conventional VHF and UHF standalone systems before advancing into the development and management of statewide trunked radio systems. Today, Jake manages Emergency Communications Technology for Hennepin County—the most populous county in Minnesota—where he plays a key role in local, regional, state, and national public safety committees. As part of a fully Customer Owned and Maintained (COAM) agency, Jake advocates for enhanced training standards and stronger recruitment pipelines for technical professionals. His ongoing commitment to improving public safety communications infrastructure and workforce development remains at the forefront of his work.
