Jordan O'Dell, Project Lead Mission Critical Services, PSCR, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
With a strong foundation in engineering and a commitment to public safety, Jordan is a key contributor to the advancement of mission-critical communications. Since joining the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) Division in 2019, Jordan has applied his technical expertise to drive progress in the field. With a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks (2017) and an M.S. in Technology, Cybersecurity & Policy from the University of Colorado‑Boulder (2023), Jordan is well-equipped to tackle the complex challenges of mission-critical communications. As a research engineer in the Mission Critical Services (MCx) group, he focuses on bridging the gap between Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and broadband Mission‑Critical Communications, enhancing interoperability, reliability, and security for first responders. This work ensures that first responders have the tools and technologies needed to respond to emergencies with confidence and precision.
