Chris Nunley, Assistant Director, Orange County Sheriff's Department
Chris serves as Assistant Director of the Technology Division at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, where he oversees the radio technicians and engineers responsible for operating the 800 MHz Countywide Coordinated Communications System (CCCS) — one of the largest public safety radio networks in the United States, serving over 100 partner agencies across Orange County, California. With 33 years of law enforcement and public safety experience, Chris began his career as a Police Explorer at age 14 and rose through the ranks to become Chief of Police for the City of Signal Hill, California, earning the Purple Heart and Patriot Award for actions in the line of duty. In his current role, Chris leads efforts to identify, mitigate, and respond to emerging RF threats targeting critical public safety communications infrastructure. His team is actively developing RF geolocation capabilities and countermeasures to address the growing threat of radio frequency jamming — work that is directly supporting security preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup and 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Chris also operates Insight Management LLC, a consulting firm specializing in workplace investigations and organizational leadership. He is a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation.
