Kevin Nida joined the FirstNet Authority in February of 2017. During Kevin’s 37-year public safety career, he served in the Fire, EMS, 9-1-1 & Law Enforcement fields. Retiring as a Battalion Chief with the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 2017, Kevin also served concurrently for 25 years as a Communications Unit Leader (COML) and Communications Technician (COMT), 20 years in Urban Search & Rescue Communications, and with the LA-RICS BTOP LTE Program. He is currently licensed as a paramedic in the state of California.
Kevin served in numerous major incidents including the 1992 Los Angeles Civil Disturbance, the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, 2005 Metro-Link Train Crash, and in 2005, Hurricane Katrina. Kevin also responded to scores of wildland fires providing technical communications assistance and supervision to ensure incident coverage and agency interoperability.
