Ed Mills, Director of Customer Success, ESChat

Ed Mills Director of Customer Success/Service, ESChat Ed Mills brings a combined operational, public-safety, and communications-technology perspective to mission-critical communications. His background includes service as a U.S. Army Military Police officer, approximately a decade working in post-9/11 counterterrorism and security technology, more than fourteen years in the fire service, and eight years with the Colorado Governor's Office of Information Technology, where he worked specifically on public-safety communications and FirstNet, the nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network. During his fire-service career, Mills served in operational leadership roles including Operations Lieutenant/Captain, Deputy Chief of Operations, and Acting Division Chief of Operations. That experience gave him firsthand exposure to the realities of emergency communications in fire, EMS, all-hazards response, and complex incident environments. His work with the Colorado Governor's Office of Information Technology placed him at the intersection of public safety and emerging broadband communications as agencies evaluated and adopted FirstNet and other public-safety communications capabilities. Today, as Director of Customer Success/Service at ESChat, Mills works with broadband push-to-talk, LMR/broadband interoperability, and mission-critical communications environments. His perspective combines the operational question—What does the responder need when conditions deteriorate?—with the technology question—How can modern communications systems continue providing it when networks, infrastructure, or individual communications paths fail?
