Steve McMurrer, ENP, is the 9-1-1 Systems Administrator for the Fairfax County, Virginia Department of Public Safety Communications. With extensive experience in 9-1-1 operations and technology, Steve has helped lead Fairfax County's transition to Next Generation 9-1-1 and its ongoing evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies. His work includes NG911 strategy, interoperability, data sharing, testing and integration of new technologies into mission-critical operations. Steve has also contributed nationally to the advancement of 9-1-1 standards and interoperability, including service on national initiatives focused on NG911 and 9-1-1 data. An experienced practitioner and early adopter, Steve brings a practical perspective to evaluating emerging technologies, including AI, and determining how promising solutions can be safely tested and translated into tools that support emergency communications personnel.
