Jack Markey, Statewide Interoperability Coordinator, State of Maryland
Jack Markey serves the State of Maryland as Statewide Interoperability Coordinator and Assistant Secretary in the Maryland Department of Emergency Management. Jack works to integrate and improve the interoperability of mission critical public safety voice and data systems to efficiently and effectively serve the public and protect responders.
Prior to joining the State of Maryland Jack served Frederick County, MD for 34 years where he was responsible for establishing and leading a municipal, county, state, and federal partnership for emergency management and public safety voice and data communications focused on those in need of emergency assistance and responders. Jack served from 2007 to 2025 as a Governor-appointed member of the Maryland 9-1-1 Board, including service as the Board Chair for the last three years during the State’s successful transition to Next Generation 9-1-1.
