Jim HendershotPresident & CTORadio Design Group, Inc.

Jim Hendershot has been involved in the radio and wireless industry for over 50 years, beginning with a career in radio and television broadcast engineering and later moving into the two-way radio and mobile telephone industry. He is President and Chief Technical Officer of Radio Design Group, Inc., the RF and wireless firm he founded in 1992. Mr. Hendershot has been involved in the design of several products in wireless communications, including cellular phones, pagers, antennas, wireless intercoms, and spread spectrum systems. His spread spectrum experience includes voice and data applications, using both frequency hopping and direct sequence systems for both commercial and military applications.

One of his most recent innovative achievements is the development of Enhanced NarrowBand (ENB) communications, which establishes a new benchmark in spectrally efficient systems for
various markets and applications. Mr. Hendershot was also the critical inventor in developing M-ary Variable Shift Keying (MVSK) communications technology, a robust, highly jam-resistant system for military spread-spectrum communications.

Mr. Hendershot is a well-known figure in the RF and wireless industry and has spoken at seminars and conventions on various topics, including cellular communications, wireless data,
spread spectrum, narrowband communications, and others. He has been published several times in multiple journals, including Mobile Radio Technology, Communications Magazine, Personal
Communications Technology, QST, and others. He serves on the Rogue Community College Electronics Department advisory board and is a board member of several non-profit organizations.

Elected to the grade of Fellow in 2001 by the Radio Club of America (the oldest communications society in the world), Jim is an active amateur radio operator (callsign WA6VQP) and a member of several other professional organizations, including the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), AFCEA and the Naval Institute. He studied RF and electronic engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and The George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

Inventions and patents by Mr. Hendershot include a variety of narrowband transmission systems, disguise antennas, wireless ranging methods, radio-based assisted listening devices, wireless freeway callbox systems, and a robust spread-spectrum frequency-hopping technology that provides unprecedented levels of immunity to interference and jamming.
