Jim Hendershot, President & CTO, Radio Design Group, Inc.
With an early career in broadcasting and mobile communications, Jim has worked in the radio and wireless industry for 50 years. Jim’s work in advanced communication technology included early developments in mobile satellite communications, narrowband two-way radio systems, wireless freeway callboxes, private mobile telephone systems and disguised cellular antennas. Building on his experience, he founded Radio Design Group in 1992, where he was responsible for the development of the first cellular communications PCMCIA data modem, numerous pager designs, narrowband wireless intercom systems, and a variety of DoD technologies, including advanced jamming simulation, jam-resistant communications and advanced SIGINT systems. He holds several patents in communications, including emergency callbox technologies, specialized antennas, and jam-resistant waveforms. His latest patent is for an innovative communications system allowing for use of communications devices in secure areas via a removable transmitter. In 2001, Jim was elected as a Fellow to the oldest communications society in the world, the Radio Club of America (RCA). A member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, he is also an active Amateur Radio operator, engineer and inventor, and has written articles on a variety of subjects for several national magazines.
