José Gonzalez, IT Sr. Systems Administrator, Washington State Patrol
José Gonzalez is a senior public safety technology leader with the Washington State Patrol (WSP), specializing in mission-critical infrastructure, enterprise systems, and operational support for life-safety environments. He currently serves as the only Senior System Administrator / Specialist, providing 24x7 statewide support for high-risk operations including SWAT deployments, ICAC investigations, Human Trafficking Task Forces, and other multi-day incident command missions.
Previously, José served as Server Team Supervisor overseeing WSP’s 24x7 life-safety systems and leading a team of seven technical professionals. He directed outage response, workforce development, hiring initiatives, and enterprise technology integration while advising executive leadership on emerging technologies and strategic infrastructure investments.
His expertise spans Cisco and Ubiquiti networking, VMware virtualization, Linux, Unix and Windows server administration, enterprise storage, fiber optics, wireless networking, and IT service management (ITIL/ITSM). Prior to WSP, he supported domestic and overseas government operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait, delivering network infrastructure, satellite communications, and command situational awareness systems.
José brings operational discipline, technical depth, and strategic leadership to complex public safety environments — ensuring resilient systems that protect communities across Washington State.
