Thomas Gilbert, Radio System Manager, Brazos Valley Council of Government
Thomas has over 25 years in Public Safety Communications and currently serves as the System Manager for a 16-site regional P25 Public-Safety 700MHz Trunking System in the Brazos Valley Region of Texas, which includes the Cities of Bryan and College Station, as well as the surrounding counties, covering over 4,000 square miles. Additionally, Thomas has 22 years in the Fire Service, merging his technical knowledge with ‘boots on the ground’ needs. He is actively engaged in Disaster Response operations and is a State-Credentialed All-Hazards Communications Unit Leader and All-Hazards Communications Technician. Thomas is also actively involved in Interoperability Committees at the State Level, serving as the chair of the TxICC Broadband Push-To-Talk Committee as well as a member of several other committees. Thomas is also passionate about training the next generation of Communications Technicians, participating as an Evaluator in Communications Exercises and other training events such as the Central States Communications Exercise in 2024.
