Lucas Fiene, UAS Program Manager, Edge Consulting Engineers
Lucas Fiene leads Edge Consulting Engineer's UAS program with over 15 years of drone piloting experience in telecommunications infrastructure inspection. He has operated drones since before Part 107 certification under a Section 333 exemption and has logged over 10,000 flight hours across multiple platforms, combining program management with field operations. Lucas has developed inspection programs for telecommunications infrastructure, including cell towers and wireless communication systems. He has built specialized applications that enhance drone inspection documentation for telecom assets. He helped transition the organization from manual imagery review to an integrated workflow that processes drone images into digital twins and incorporates them directly into engineering documents, reducing time requirements for design and engineering teams. His work supports 5G network deployment and wireless infrastructure projects. As a licensed thermographer and drone pilot, Lucas has expanded services to inspecting utility scale solar fields in the midwest. His experience managing inspection programs for critical infrastructure has prepared him to address the practical challenges of using drone technology in the telecommunications industry.
