Joe Duvall is a thirty-eight-year veteran of law enforcement. He was appointed as the Chief of Police for the Dallas Police Department in January 2018. Prior to working with Dallas, he served with the City of Marietta Police Department for thirty-one years where he retired at the rank of Major. During his tenure with the Dallas Police Department, the City of Dallas has been recognized in the top twenty of safest cities in the State of Georgia. In 2020, he also led the Dallas Police Department in the creation of the first 911 center utilizing FirstNet Broadband technology in the State of Georgia and one of the first in the United States.
He holds a Master of Public Administration -Columbus State University
He is also a graduate of:
-The F.B.I. National Academy
-The Senior Management Institute for Police Executive Management at Boston University.
He served in the United States Navy from 1983-1987 as an Operations Specialist.
He has been married to his wife Lisa for thirty-five years and have two children and a grand-daughter.
