José De Zayas, E911 Communications Administrator, Broward County Office of Regional Communications & Technology
José leads Broward County’s Radio Administration and Operations Division, under the Office of Regional Communications and Technology. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami. He has spent the last 20 years with Broward County, where he has primary responsibility over various wireless systems serving over 25,000 users. During his tenure he designed and oversaw the migration of the County’s local government users onto a standalone DMR system, migration to a public safety communications system to P25 Phase II, migration to a IP based Regional Fire Station Alerting System, and the implementation of countywide bi-directional amplifier guidelines. His experience includes managing the County’s communications through critical incidents, including active shooter incidents at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas Highschool and Fort Lauderdale International Airport.
