Robert Crane, Program Executive for Public Sector Engagements, Sam Houston State University Institute for Homeland Security
Robert Crane Serves as the Program Executive for Public Sector Engagements, Energy Security, and PNT at the Institute for Homeland Security at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). A DRI Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Mr. Crane champions operational resilience across critical infrastructure and end-user communities. Prior to the role at SHSU, he retired from federal civil service as the U.S. GPS and PNT Resilience Advisor at the Department of Homeland Security, where he coordinated national policy on space-based systems, cybersecurity, and infrastructure resilience. Prior to federal civil service, he served as a Coast Guard Reserve Commander holding active-duty senior officer positions in readiness, contingency, and workforce planning for the marine transportation system, maritime homeland defense, and cutter replacement programs. He actively sits on the board of the Energy Security Council and participates in industry-led organizations including the Association of Continuity Professionals, the Continuity Council, the Resilient Navigation and Timing Foundation, the Institute of Navigation, the Foundation for Infrastructure Resilience, the Secure-The-Grid Coalition, and the National Security Innovation Council. For 18 years, he has taught online academic courses in business continuity, crisis management, and critical infrastructure protection as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Missouri and serves on the homeland security advisory board for George Washington University. He holds a B.S. and an M.B.A.
