Why You Can't Gamble on Emergency Communications at Caesars Palace
With nearly 4,000 guest rooms, 300,000 square feet of convention space, a 130,000-square-foot casino, and multiple entertainment venues, Caesars Palace stands as one of Las Vegas's most recognizable destinations, and one of the most complex hospitality environments. When it comes to maintaining reliable wireless communication throughout every part of the resort, the property presents unique challenges.
In an emergency, clear and reliable communication can mean the difference between a coordinated response and a life-threatening delay. At a property as large as Caesars Palace, providing dependable in-building connectivity requires a carefully engineered approach that reaches every critical area. To do this, ERCES must work alongside commercial in-building wireless systems. Rather than designing and deploying separate infrastructures, a unified cellular infrastructure can allow both systems to share common pathways, enclosures, and supporting infrastructure, reducing installation complexity, minimizing costs, and improving the overall efficiency of the deployment.
This session will examine Caesars Palace as a case study in the design and deployment of unified cellular infrastructure within a complex hospitality environment. Hear about the historical resistance to shared infrastructure from Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), how recent changes to the IFC and NFPA codes have helped shift that perspective, and the practical considerations involved in integrating ERCES with commercial cellular systems. In addition, explore the advantages and challenges of various unified infrastructure designs, including network architecture, deployment logistics, coordination, and the unique considerations associated with maintaining reliable communications across a property as large and complex as Caesars Palace.
Takeaway
1. Understand the communication challenges of Las Vegas's complex architectural structures, specifically focusing on Caesars Palace and how they can impact emergency response effectiveness
2. Explore the benefits of integrating ERCES with commercial in-building wireless systems to create a seamless communication environment for emergencies, and how these unified cellular infrastructures reduce time, cost, and complexity by housing emergency and commercial systems within the same enclosures
3. Discover practical strategies for implementing unified cellular infrastructures through real-world case studies, highlighting both advantages and challenges in deployment.
