The Team Awareness Kit (TAK) is a vital geospatial situational awareness tool created by the Department of Defense. Adapted for civilian applications, the system leverages a wide variety of communications media to exchange real-time status for people and things. In a crisis, the data from drone and video systems transferred by TAK can be better protected by utilizing standards-based 3GPP Mission Critical Data (MC-DATA) techniques. This session will look at the state of the standard and implications for TAK clients operating in the Apple iOS, Windows, and Android environments.

Takeaway

How does TAK normally transfer data? What are the unique needs of mission data supporting drone operations? How can 3GPP Mission Critical Data (MC-DATA) protect vital feeds initiated by TAK devices? What is the state of support for MC-DATA today?
