High Frequency (HF) radio is the ultimate backup communications system due to its ability to survive denial or damage to critical infrastructure. The underlying technology is over 100 years old, yet it pushes the leading edge by incorporating the latest developments in information technology and digital signal processing. This session will be a brainstorming session with the audience to explore:
• Regulatory changes for increased HF utilization
• Managed services to maintain readiness of your system
• Integration of your HF capabilities to support mission-critical public safety answering point (PSAP) applications.

Takeaway

• Discuss what changes to the FCC rules should be requested for HF disaster communications ("Operation SECURE") and HF long distance communications for critical infrastructure networks
• Discuss what you need from a managed services vendor to maintain and support your HF network
• Discuss which critical PSAP functions can utilize HF circuits to sustain services when other infrastructure communications are overloaded or unavailable.
