Ransomware has unfortunately been on the rise again, with data showing ransom payments could reach up to $898.6 million. As some ransomware groups have been taken down by law enforcement, those members have scattered to form offshoot groups or join others, and new ransomware groups have spawned. As these new ransomware groups have emerged, so have their tactics. These tactics have become more aggressive, evolving into multi-extortion threats with new techniques, campaigns, and software. Your knowledge and response against ransomware must improve and evolve as rapidly as ransomware groups emerge, evolve and accelerate their threats. A cyber actor only has to be successful once, your defense must be successful each and every time a threat is presented.

Objective: To help law enforcement leadership have a clear understanding of their organization's cyber risk. And to help them define polices and incident response plans that play a critical role in helping to thwart or stop damaging ransomware exploits.

1. Learn about 2023's ransomware families and what makes them so dangerous.
2. Learn about the cost of a ransomware attack.
3. Learn about current ransomware threat trends, methodologies, and tactics.
4. Learn about defense against new ransomware players, detection, and prevention.
