Open Skies: Three-Dimensional Urban Planning and UAS Traffic Management

Dan Munsey  (Chief, San Bernardino Fire)
Track: Emerging Technologies: Drones, AI and NTN
Format: Panel Session
Vault Recording: TBD

The Jetsons notwithstanding, as the air become filled with uncrewed aerial vehicles, the need becomes real and immediate for UTM (UAS Traffic Management) and three-dimensional urban planning. With the rise of air mobility, aerial drones, counter UAS, and the needs of crude aircraft, urban planning must take the skies. This planning for the Z-axis must include detect and avoid, tracking of air assets, public, private partnerships, and of course, an increased need on connectivity. In addition, interference mitigation is vital, so no aerial mechanism comes crashing to the ground. Hear from professionals leading the discussion on three-dimensional urban planning.
