La Salle County, TX - A Utopia of Information Sharing through Apps

JD Rodriguez  (Sergeant, Texas Highway Patrol - Cotulla)
Brandon Alberd  (Program Manager - Texas TAK, Public Safety IT, Texas Department of Public Safety - HQ)
Topic: Services and Applications
Format: Power Session
Vault Recording: TBD

Using a new app that originally was commissioned by DHS, Texas Department of Public Safety have created an integrated, private messaging app that's used all over the state. La Salle County, TX, was one of the early adopters and has created a virtual utopia of information sharing through this app. Members don't need to know or have anyone else's phone number or contact information - all information is stored in the app and is enterprise grade, scalable, secure, and compliant. No more broken, fragmented texts during an incident. Nor more patchwork of quasi-interoperable networks. No more loss of comms due to downed infrastructure. No more public listening in on your radio comms. In this session, hear a case study of how a new simple, secure technology that was deliberately and persistently rolled out in TX, provides the next level of public safety communications.
