Location has always been foundational to public safety. In the U.S., emergency call-takers’ first question often is, “Where is your emergency?” As agencies increasingly adopt AI-driven tools and other emerging technologies, the need for trusted, real-time location information—not only of the incident, but where responders and key assets are—have become even more critical. Without accurate and reliable location data, the operational benefits of many other technological tools and innovations can be reduced, if not removed altogether.

Outdoor-location accuracy has improved dramatically during the past few decades, thanks largely to the evolution of network-based solutions and satellite-based technologies like GPS. But indoor accuracy remains a challenge, both in terms of obtaining accurate location data (including vertical Z-axis information) and depicting it on a real-time map that can be understood and used practically by responders and command staff.

During this keynote, GeoComm CEO TJ Kennedy will explore what’s possible today and what’s coming next in a rapidly evolving landscape, as mapping expands beyond roads and response routes. Attendees will learn how modern, interoperable mapping—leveraging a unified approach to outdoor- and indoor-location data—can strengthen situational awareness, improve operational efficiency, and enable faster, more collaborative responses when seconds matter most.

Takeaway

  • Real-time, trusted location intelligence powers confident, coordinated public safety decisions.
  • AI-driven mapping now extends beyond roads to unified outdoor and indoor environments.
  • Interoperable location data accelerates response, collaboration, and operational efficiency when seconds matter.
