Much of our modern society is based on the ability to safely transport people and goods efficiently around the world—notably through trucks, airplanes and shipping. Virtually every communications mode is leveraged to make this happen, with LMR, broadband data and connectivity, a variety of IoT sensors, SMS, GPS, and real-time video. Being able to share information from simple tracking devices to sophisticated cameras is important to maintaining smooth operations, but such interoperability can be technically challenging. The importance of maximizing the range of communication devices is that much more critical in the context of vehicles in the transport supply chain.

Key Takeaways:
  • Discover how to use wireless communications to maintain interoperable and reliable comms off-shore or out of range, with no action by the operator, through interoperable satellite, cell tower hand-off and trunked radio.
  • Examine how to take advantage of the vehicle's existing data monitoring and report this information back to the operation center.
  • Explore how to take advantage of the direct real-time information from vehicles to schedule maintenance, determine the ability of the vehicle to complete its next assignment without maintenance interruption and in general not be surprised by unexpected vehicle breakdowns
