How ARCS 2.0 Will Change Infrastructure and Deployment
Auxiliary Radio Communication System (ARCS) is a building code requirement for all new construction high-rise buildings (taller than 75 feet) in New York City. It is used by the fire department to transmit portable radio signals throughout the building – enabling radio communication in the event of an emergency or crises, with continuous operation.
With the emergence of ARCS 2.0, in-building Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) will be impacted in their design and deployment. All components will be subject to approvals and only approved products will be accepted in the design. This will limit designers to component selection but will offer a more robust infrastructure within their design. This talk explores the changes for ARCS 2.0, how other agencies can adapt the more challenging aspects of their code, and how it will impact future designs.
Takeaway
- Attendees will come away with a better understanding of ARCS 2.0
- Highlight key changes from the previous iteration of ARCS
- Detain some of the changes and impacts on DAS design
- Show alignment to a new standard of components
