From Legacy to NG911: Approaching the Finish Line

Jeremy Hill  (Public Safety Advisor, Public Safety Advisor - OPSC - NTIA)
Track: 911 and NG911
Format: Panel Session
Vault Recording: TBD

Following up the NTIA Next Generation (NG911) cost study, this session will feature representatives from jurisdictions nearing completion of their migration to NG911. The discussion and audience Q&A will focus on practical adoption and implementation, including how states can develop and structure a robust NG911 RFP and how they planned and executed data migration while protecting call-handling continuity. Panelists will also address the higher lifecycle costs associated with NG9-1-1 technologies, including how to justify investment and phase upgrades over time.

In addition, the panel will explore resiliency requirements, strategies for operational continuity, as well as interoperability challenges across PSAP networks and vendor ecosystems. The session will conclude with the concrete steps and obstacles to becoming fully NG911 enabled.

Takeaway

Agencies and Jurisdictions that are in the early stages of the NG911 migration will takeaway firsthand testimony and proven strategies to ensure their NG911 networks are resilient, redundant, cybersecure, and end-to-end interoperable.
