The advancement of AI has manifested the ability for cyber threats to amplify their attack methodologies, causing disruption and damage to high value public safety targets. As quickly as defenders are using AI to protect critical networks, cyber threats are manipulating AI tools to bypass security guardrails, identify exploitable vulnerabilities and deliver ransomware at a faster speed. AI also enables faster aggregation and efficient processing of data in which cyber criminals can create effective phishing lures.

The weaponization of AI tools demands a clear response by implementing a defense in depth layered security strategy designed to mitigate sophisticated attacks aimed at causing reputation, financial and sensitive data losses.

No network environment is 100% secure, and communities rely on an ECC's ability to continue critical and in some instances life-saving operations in the event of a compromise. In contrast to AI tools being used for malicious intent, they also offer ECC's the opportunity to counter punch developing methodologies for anomalous behavior analysis and threat detection.

Takeaway

To bring awareness to the public safety sector regarding the ability of cyber threats to manipulate AI in order to amplify their attack methodologies to cause disruption and damage within mission-critical network environments at a faster velocity. AI also offers ECCs to counter punch, utilizing AI tools for anomalous behavior analysis and threat detection.

1. Learn about the risks and benefits associated with AI

2. Understand how AI is being used by Cyber Threats and the impact on public safety

3. Learn how to mitigate the risk against an AI constructed cyber attack
