Mike Waldner, Project Manager, South Dakota Bureau of Information and Telecomminications
Mike Waldner has worked in the information technology industry his entire 27+ year career. Currently working for the Bureau of Information and Telecommunications, Waldner is the FirstNet and Public Safety Broadband Coordinator for the State of South Dakota. Most of his career focused on state-wide broadband initiatives, built and directed the State K-12 Data Center providing technology services (including centralized email system) for all K-12 schools in South Dakota. He was influential in many state-wide technology projects, including the first Internet connection for state government. Most recently he directed a subcommittee to research and recommend a public safety statewide interoperable mobile broadband application for South Dakota with the ability to scale nationwide. Additionally Waldner worked for a while in the private sector building an online marketing system.
He serves as an adjunct professor at Dakota State University teaching computer forensics, business, and IT related courses. He also is a past elected official as the Public Safety Commissioner for the City of Madison, made an appearance in a Forensics Files TV show, volunteers, swims, bikes, runs, and tries to enjoy life. Waldner holds a Master of Science in Information Systems along with bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Information Systems.
