Russell Stukey, EM Director/ Fire Chief, Riley County (KS)
Russel Stukey started his career as a volunteer firefighter while still in high school in his hometown of Waverly, Kansas. After earning his Fire Science Degree, he served for 14 years with the Emporia Fire Department, working in both fire suppression and medical transport. He then served for 12 years as the Director of Emergency Management for Coffey County, Kansas—the only county in the state with a commercial nuclear power plant. He is currently in his fourth year as the Emergency Services Director for Riley County, Kansas, home of the K-State Wildcats. He supervises three divisions: Emergency Management, County Fire, and 911 Fund Administration. Russel works closely with all emergency services in the county, especially the county PSAP, to ensure the county-wide communications system serves all agencies appropriately. In his free time, he manages a family farm with his wife and son.
