Charles Ross is the Manager of Public Safety Network Operations and Radio Systems Integration for the State of New Mexico. He oversees two teams responsible for the technical development and operations of New Mexico’s rapidly-growing statewide P25 Phase II trunked radio system. His teams manage the radio system core, the supporting Aviat microwave and fiber backhaul network built on a Cisco-based MPLS platform, and all radio/microwave engineering functions.
Mr. Ross served as a first responder in a variety of volunteer roles and is committed to improving the quality and interoperability of public safety communications in New Mexico. He regularly participates in various interoperability working groups and is responsible for developing policies and best practices concerning the use of the state’s radio system.
Mr. Ross has been working in public safety radio communications since 2008. Before relocating to New Mexico, he worked in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. where he held a variety of roles ranging from Motorola field service technician to managing the radio systems for two of Virginia’s most populous counties.
