As a technologist and battery design expert with over 20 years of technical experience in the energy industry, Brian Pevear is the Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder for Caban Systems. Caban Systems is a pioneer in the design, manufacture, and operation of intelligent energy storage systems for critical infrastructure. Pevear is considered an industry expert on all aspects of battery systems and energy storage – specializing in electrical systems, systems engineering, embedded hardware, and system functional safety.
Prior to co-founding Caban Systems, Pevear was the Director of Battery Systems and Battery Applications at Proterra, Inc., an OEM of all-electric high voltage batteries and zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles. His market analysis enabled the company to target the product portfolio which propelled the company forward to commercial success across North America. He began his career in 1999 as a hardware engineer designing battery sensors for hybrid electric vehicles.
Since then, he has had extensive, hands-on experience commercializing battery-related systems to industrial and mobility companies like Ford, Sanyo, Caterpillar, EMC, McLaren Automotive, Boeing, Embraer, and Volkswagen – further establishing him as an expert in all aspects of battery pack design, analytical tools, regulations, supply chain management, and the use of various battery chemistries.
Pevear is committed to changing the way the world uses energy. Having recently solved some of the most challenging problems in the transportation industry, he is eager to disrupt a new sector in energy storage with Caban Systems.
Brian Pevear holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
