Kevin R. Nida, Senior Public Safety Advisor, First Responder Network Authority, U.S. Department of Commerce
Kevin Nida joined the FirstNet Authority in February of 2017. During Kevin’s 37-year public safety career, he served in the Fire, EMS, 9-1-1 & Law Enforcement fields. Retiring as a Battalion Chief with the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 2017, Kevin also served concurrently for 25 years as a Communications Unit Leader (COML) and Communications Technician (COMT), 20 years in Urban Search & Rescue Communications, and with the LA-RICS BTOP LTE Program.
Kevin served in numerous major incidents including the 1992 Los Angeles Civil Disturbance, the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, 2005 Metro-Link Train Crash, and in 2005, Hurricane Katrina. Kevin also responded to scores of wildland fires providing technical communications assistance and supervision to ensure incident coverage and agency interoperability.
