Joe Namm, Principal Staff Software Engineer, Motorola Solutions
Joe Namm received his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Florida in 1989. He is currently a Principal Staff software engineer at Motorola Solutions where he has architected and developed embedded devices since 1991. He currently architects solutions for new ASTRO features and devices. Joe has 20 issued patents and is also a member of Motorola Solutions’ patent review committee. Joe was a Battalion Chief for the city of Plantation Fire department, where he continues to be an active firefighter since 1993. He is a member of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association, a state certified professional firefighter, EMT, and Certified Fire Service Instructor III for the fire department. Joe also serves as a current member of the Dept of Justice and Dept of Homeland security’s jointly formed Inter Agency Board as a communications and technology subject matter expert. the Inter Agency Board is a voluntary working group of 100+ emergency preparedness and response practitioners from across the country which investigates and prioritizes research and development opportunities for first responder equipment, technology, standards, training, and strategic planning for response to large scale CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive) incidents. He also serves as a principal member on several National Fire Protection Administration standards committees. Joe’s past civic service includes serving as Chairman and Certified Public Pension Trustee for the city of Plantation’s firefighter pension board. He is also a Certified Financial Planner earning his designation in 2004.
