Eric Mekosch, FWPD SWAT, Ft. Worth Police Department
Eric Mekosch is a seasoned officer, currently serving the City of Fort Worth as a 20-year member of the police department. Officer Mekosch grew up and attended college in Minnesota, where he also became an avid outdoorsman and nature enthusiast. A 21-year resident of Texas, he and his wife of 13 years share one 5-year-old son and two pups. Serving as a full-time member of the SWAT Section for the past 13 years, Officer Mekosch is the department’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) on body armor and holds multiple instructor certifications which include Texas Commission on LE Instructor, TCOLE Firearms Instructor, Ballistic Shield Instructor, Tactical Rappel Master, Hostage Rescue, Night Vision CQB, and Chemical/Less Lethal/NFDD Munitions Instructor. Eric is the former President of the Fort Worth SWAT Support Group, and a current board member of the American Warrior Association. By leveraging technology and tactical training, Officer Mekosch is committed to improving operational efficiency and public safety. He has a number of successful initiatives, including a first of its kind wellness program for Fort Worth first responders called the R3 Program, and the distribution of rifle protective armor and ballistic helmets to front line first responders through a private donation known as the “Protect the Fort” initiative. His current focus is integrating the Team Awareness Kit (TAK) system on a regional scale to optimize communication by enhancing real-time information sharing across various agencies.
