James Large, E911 Director, Newton County Communications Center
Jim joined the Newton County Communications Center in August 2018. He serves as the E911 Director. Prior to joining the Communications Center, Jim started his career in telecommunications located in Richardson, TX and continued in Indiana spanning 28 years. With a career change in mind, he earned his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and began working in the public safety field with Newton County Ambulance serving more than 12 years. He continues to hold a certification and serves his community with the Kentland-Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department as an FF/EMT. Jim’s degree focused on electrical engineering (EE) which gives him an understanding not usually required for the director’s position. Jim has implemented various programs and systems as the director, including a hosted 911 system, hosted CAD system, and deployment of a new county-wide public safety communications system. Jim was born and raised in Kanas City, Missouri area and attended high school in Lee’s Summit. Jim is a Chief’s Fan! He earned a B.S. for Oklahoma State University. Jim enjoys serving his community and spending quality time with his wife, Rose, family and friends.
