Shaun Lamar has implemented and managed technology and communication systems for 27 years, 23 of which have been in the electric utility industry. Before earning his bachelor’s degree in information technology and transitioning to technology management, Shaun had careers in the US Army, law enforcement and civil engineering. He has a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Colorado State University and certifications for information security and project management.
Shaun’s current position is the manager of information technology and communication systems for SECO Energy. SECO is an electric distribution cooperative that serves 230,000 customers with a service territory of over 2000 square miles in hurricane prone Central Florida. In 2016 Shaun led a project to replace SECO’s antiquated low band radio system with ESChat using push to talk over cellular. (PTToC) In 2019, Shaun and his team began an expansion of the project to integrate a Tait DMR system with ESChat. The multi-million-dollar project includes construction of 7 radio towers and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
