Travis Johnson is the Emergency Communications Coordinator (ECC) for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Region 6, in Baton Rouge, LA. As an ECC Mr. Johnson supports and promotes the regional improvement of emergency communications capabilities and servs as a subject matter expert to engage stakeholders and address the complex issues facing the emergency communications ecosystem. He works to build partnerships, enhance collaboration, and stimulate the sharing of best practices and information between Federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial government, critical infrastructure owners and operators, and key non-government organizations.

Mr. Johnson has over 30 years of Communications and Emergency Management experience garnered from positions at Fortune 500 companies such as The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) Radio Division and Motorola Solutions, and the public sector via his employment with the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP). While serving at GOHSEP he has responded to countless emergency management events ranging from natural disasters (hurricanes, floods, tornados, etc.) to man-made events (BP Oil Spill, Election Security, Superbowl, etc.).

He most recently served as the Statewide Interoperability Coordinator (SWIC) and Emergency Communications (ESF-2) Co-lead for the State of Louisiana. Notably, Mr. Johnson lead the state’s communications response to the Covid 19 outbreak and the historic 2020 and 2021 hurricane seasons which saw Louisiana become the first state to have five named storms make landfall in a season 2020, including Category 4 Hurricane Laura, and 2021’s category 4 Hurricane Ida.

In addition to his civilian work, Mr. Johnson is a Master Sergeant with the 236th Combat Communications Squadron of the Louisiana Air National Guard (LAANG). Throughout his career, he has deployed in support of National Defense to named operations around the world such as Saudi Arabia (2002), Kyrgyzstan (2003), Iraq (2008), and Afghanistan – where he served as the 445th Air Advisory Squadron’s First Sergeant (2011-2012). He has also deployed in support of disaster relief efforts, to include earthquake relief in Haiti and Hurricane Katrina response in New Orleans. In both 2017 and 2021, he spent two weeks in Washington, D.C. leading a team that provided communications support for the Presidential Inaugurations.
