Billy Freeman is a Senior Public Safety Advisor for the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority), serving in the Stakeholder Collaboration division. Billy's nearly 40-year career in public safety began while serving in the U.S. Army as an aircraft mechanic in an electronic warfare unit. Prior to joining the FirstNet Authority, Billy retired as a Lieutenant after 28 years working for the Memphis Fire Department in Tennessee. His last 5 years spent overseeing the deployment, maintenance, and training on mobile data computers and applications in 150 fire and EMS apparatus. While on the fire department Billy also served 25 years on the FEMA US&R Task Fource and IST as a Communications Unit Leader/Technician. During that time, he participated in over 30 national deployments. He also participated in the creation of the original Homeland Security All Hazard Communications Unit Leader and Communications Technician courses. Over the years he taught these courses as a certified instructor.
