C.J. Engel, Executive Director, Arkansas 911 Board
C.J. Engel is an Arkansas native and currently serves as Executive Director of the Arkansas 911 Board. Prior to his current position, he served as Director of Saline County Emergency Management and 9-1-1 in Central Arkansas where he was named Arkansas Emergency Manager of the Year and an IWCE Young Professional, both in 2018. As Director, he was responsible for the county’s 9-1-1 Administration and Operations, Emergency Management Program and Fire Services covering a population of just under 130,000. Following his position with Saline County and prior to joining the Arkansas 911 Board, Engel worked as a Senior Analyst in Preparedness and Business Continuity for Southwest Airlines in Dallas, Texas where he managed projects such as growth of the company’s Remote Operations Center and remote work capabilities for approximately 2,000 call center employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic. C.J. formerly served on the Arkansas 9-1-1 Strategic Planning Committee which worked throughout 2017, to update and improve 9-1-1 legislation in the state and has been an active member of numerous public safety organizations including the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO), National Emergency Number Association (NENA) and International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). Engel holds a B.S. in Emergency Management and Administration from Arkansas Tech University, a M.S. in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas, and Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®) through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM).
